DESCRIPTION:On April 19th\, 1775\, Lexington’s town common made history as the site of the first shot of the Revolutionary War. From that war\, a new country was born\, and the Lexington Battle Green became known as the Birthplace of American Liberty. 250 years later\, we will gather a local group of aspiring Americans to this historic ground\, as they are formally naturalized as American citizens and become a part of our colorful national tapestry. Join us in welcoming them to the American experiment! \nThis stunning ceremony will also feature remarks from Cameron Hickey\, Lexington resident and CEO of the National Conference on Citizenship; historical context from Steve Cole\, Jr.\, Captain of the Lexington Minute Men; music by Epp Sonin\, founder of the Lexington Music School; and a welcome to our new citizens by naturalized citizen Sophia Ho\, who will share her immigration story with us. A welcome reception for our new citizens is generously sponsored by the National Conference on Citizenship. \nThis event is open to the public\, but seating is extremely limited. DESCRIPTION:Every year on Patriot’s Day\, the National Lancers reenact the rides of Paul Revere and William Dawes. \nPaul Revere leaves on horseback from the North End\, Boston and William Dawes  on horseback leaves from John Elliot Square\, 10 Putnam St.\, Roxbury\, warning the people while on their way to Lexington of the pending arrival of the British Regulars.  They arrive separately after Revere travels through Charlestown\, Somerville\, Medford and Arlington. While Dawes travels through Roxbury\, Brookline\, Cambridge and Arlington en route to Lexington.

DESCRIPTION:The British Regular Army was one of the most powerful military forces in the world in the 18th century. But in the course of one fateful day\, their luck changed. On April 19th\, 1775\, 750 soldiers set out on a grueling 40-mile march\, and walked straight into a revolution. In Lexington and Concord\, they fought with locals intent on thwarting their mission\, and fled back to Boston chased by thousands of American soldiers. DESCRIPTION:The Lexington Minute Men will conduct the 250th Anniversary Reenactment of the Civilian Evacuation of the Battle of Lexington and the Battle of Lexington on the Lexington Battle Green on Saturday\, April 19\, 2025. \nAccording to the Lexington History Museums\, on the night of April 18\, 1775\, over 700 British soldiers were sent from Boston to Concord to destroy a store of ammunition and other supplies for an anticipated war. As dawn approached on the fateful following morning\, the town militia of Lexington stood in anxious anticipation to stand in their way. The two groups squared off on the town common\, a single\, mysterious shot rang out\, and the British soldiers opened fire. When the smoke cleared\, eight Americans lay dead\, another 10 were wounded\, and a war for independence had begun. \nEach year\, the Town of Lexington and a dedicated corps of reenactors recreate this event in real time on its original site. SUMMARY:250th Anniversary Paul Revere Midnight Ride Dinner & Candlelight Procession
DESCRIPTION:On the evening of April 18\, 1775\, Paul Revere was summoned and given the task of riding on horseback from Charlestown to Lexington\, approx. 12.5 miles\, to inform two leaders of the Sons of Liberty\, John Hancock and Samuel Adams who were staying in Lexington\, with the news that British soldiers stationed in Boston were about to march into the countryside northwest of the town. During his famous Midnight Ride\, Revere alerted the countryside of the British military movements with shouts of “the Redcoats are coming!” In the early morning on April 19\, 1775\, Capt. John Parker led 77 local militiamen and faced arriving British troops. Someone — still unknown to this day — fired a shot\, that provoked the start of the American Revolution. \nTo honor the 250th anniversary of this historic ride\, guests enjoy a special four-course Colonial-themed feast created by Executive Chef Alissa Tsukakoshi paired with local area brews and spirits from 8 pm-11 pm in a communal dining setting in Town Meeting Bistro. As a nod to Paul Revere\, a portrait of him on horseback is featured over the fireplace.
