DESCRIPTION:During this 250th Anniversary of the Battle of Lexington commemorative year\, at this Revolutionary Liber-TEA high tea\, the Inn at Hastings Park will be featuring three of the five teas that were thrown overboard during the infamous Boston Tea Party in 1773: Bohea\, Hyson and Souchong\, provided by local area J’enwey Tea Company. \nBohea: One of the first teas imported by the East India Company in the 18th-century. This black tea was fired or dried over charcoal in tea gardens before being transported to the American colonies. \nHyson: This early spring green tea is picked by April 20 each year and was a favorite of both George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. This tea was so desired by English consumers that it was taxed at a higher rate than other teas. \nSouchong: This classic black tea came from the Wuyi Mountains in the Fujian province of China. It is famous for its very distinctive smoky aroma \nThe teas\, which can be served hot or iced\, are served along with sweet and savory bites including freshly baked scones\, soup\, tea sandwiches and dessert plus a glass of Schramsberg Mirabelle Sparkling Rosé or a tea cocktail. \nSeatings on August 3\, 2024 from 11 am to 3 pm (multiple seating times) – $78/adults and $35 for kids (ages 4-12) plus tax (ironic) and gratuity per person. DESCRIPTION:On August 31\, 1769\, 45 women gathered at Anna Harrington’s home\, using spinning wheels in an act of public protest just steps from the Town Commons. Learning to spin and making cloth locally was one way to resist King George’s taxation on imported cottons. \nLexSeeHer organizes an annual reenactment of the protest to commemorate the 45 Lexington women who stepped outside with their spinning wheels help fortify a community where – just 6 years later – the first shots of the American Revolution would be fired.
