SUMMARY:Reconstruction and the “Moral Sense of the Nation” with Dr. Robert Bellinger
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Bellinger is a public historian with a background in Black Studies and almost half a century of experience as an educator\, and a Professor Emeritus in History Suffolk University. He has served as a consultant and historian for documentary films\, most notably the well-received documentary Birth of a Movement (2017). \nDr. Bellinger has been engaged in public history projects at historic sites\, monuments\, and installations. Recently Dr. Bellinger completed a research project with the Lexington Historical Society on the history of Black people in Lexington 1690-1800\, to expand the understanding and interpretation of the history of this Massachusetts community. A recent inductee into the Old Middlesex Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution\, Dr. Bellinger also serves on several boards\, including for the Robbins House in Concord\, the Shirley-Eustis House in Roxbury\, and Middleton Place in Charleston\, South Carolina. DESCRIPTION:The Lexington Lyceum Advocates announces its first International Fun Fest at Lexington’s Ellen Stone Building from 4-8PM on Saturday\, June 15. \nThe Fest will offer free activities and entertainment for the whole family on the lawn of the Ellen Stone Building at 735 Mass Ave. Come celebrate the many diverse cultures in our community with games\, music\, dancing\, food\, beer garden\, and more. \nEnjoy international dance and live musical performances\, play lawn games\, sip a cold beer or buy dinner at a food truck. Bring friends and neighbors or meet new friends as we relax outdoors on a beautiful summer evening. \nFree Parking is available on Mass ave. and neighboring side streets. \nThe International Fun Fest is cosponsored by the Massachusetts Cultural Council\, the Lexington Council for the Arts\, and the Lexington Lyceum Advocates.
