*MEDIA ADVISORY* Lexington to Host Naturalization Ceremony on Battle Green on April 22

LEXINGTON — Lexington History Museums, the Town of Lexington and the Lex250 Commission are thrilled to invite residents to a historic Naturalization Ceremony on the Lexington Battle Green on Tuesday, April 22.

Coinciding with the 250th anniversary of the start of the American Revolution, a group of local aspiring Americans will take the Oath of Allegiance and become United States citizens on the hallowed ground known as the Birthplace of American Liberty.

WHEN:

Tuesday, April 22, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

WHERE:

Lexington Battle Green, Massachusetts Avenue at Bedford Street, Lexington

WHAT:

On April 19, 1775, Lexington’s town common made history as the site of the first shot of the Revolutionary War. From that war, a new country was born, and the Lexington Battle Green became known as the Birthplace of American Liberty.

Two hundred and fifty years later, a local group of aspiring Americans will gather on this historic ground as they are formally naturalized as American citizens and become a part of our colorful national tapestry.

Join Lexington History Museums, the Town of Lexington and the Lex250 Commission in welcoming them to the American experiment!

This moving and stunning ceremony will feature remarks from Cameron Hickey, a Lexington resident and CEO of the National Conference on Citizenship; historical context from Steve Cole Jr., Captain of the Lexington Minute Men; music by Epp Sonin, founder of the Lexington Music School; and a welcome to our new citizens by naturalized citizen Sophia Ho, who will share her immigration story.

The National Conference on Citizenship is generously sponsoring a welcome reception for the new citizens.

This event is free and open to the public, but seating is extremely limited. Attendees are asked to be seated by 10:45 a.m.
