🏠 Witness Houses Reveal
Lexington’s Witness Houses offered a tangible connection to the first bloody day of the Revolution. Each house tells a story of courage, struggle, and perseverance. Visiting them reminded us that history is lived by ordinary people taking extraordinary actions.
The locations were unveiled during a March ceremony at Cary Hall, intentionally linking the past with the present. Lex250 identified and honored 24 known pre-1775 Lexington structures, each marked with a seasonal ground banner featuring the Captain Parker statue and the Lex250 logo. Homeowners received these banners at a March 12, 2025 gathering at Cary Hall.
The project also included historical research and photography, creating a lasting public record of these “celebrities in our midst,” with stories, images, and a digital map available online.
Together, the Witness Houses remind us that Lexington’s history is not confined to monuments or textbooks—it lives on our streets, in our neighborhoods, and in the stewardship of those who preserve and share these stories for generations to come.
