35 Days to Go – Friends of Minute Man National Park
As we continue the #CountdownTo250, we highlight the Friends of Minute Man National Park, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and enhancing one of the most historically significant sites in the nation. Through advocacy, education, and community engagement, the Friends support the park’s mission to bring the events of April 19, 1775, to life and ensure that future generations can experience the history, nature, and stories of the American Revolution.
Supporting Lexington’s Revolutionary Legacy
Minute Man National Historical Park spans Lexington, Lincoln, and Concord, protecting the lands where the first battles of the American Revolution took place. The Friends of Minute Man work closely with the National Park Service to:
• Preserve Historic Monuments and Structures – Ensuring the authenticity and integrity of key sites such as the North Bridge, Battle Road, and Hartwell Tavern.
• Restore Significant Battlefields – Funding archaeological investigations, landscape rehabilitation, and exhibits at Parker’s Revenge and Elm Brook Hill battlefields.
• Fund Educational Programs – Supporting reenactments, the historical clothing workshop, and ranger-led tours that engage visitors of all ages.
• Conserve Natural Resources – Protecting the park’s woodlands, wetlands, and wildlife habitats.
Signature Events & Initiatives
Each year, the Friends play a key role in supporting and promoting park events, including:
• Patriots’ Day Commemorations – Reenactments and ceremonies marking the anniversary of the Battles of Lexington and Concord.
• Winter Lecture Series – Talks featuring historians and scholars discussing Revolutionary War history.
• Bird Walks and Buttrick Garden Tours – Providing guided tours of the park’s natural resources.
