18 Days to Go – April Fools’ Day, But No Joke

As we draw closer to #Lex250, the Countdown Calendar has become more than just a project—it has become a powerful reflection of everything that makes Lexington unique. In just a few weeks, we will have shared 365 different #CalendarKeepers—each one representing the incredible diversity, talent, and spirit of our community.

This calendar is a testament to the rich tapestry of cultural groups, student organizations, sports teams, businesses, local nonprofits, schools, civic organizations, and more that make up the heart of Lexington. Every story told, every event highlighted, and every organization celebrated adds a piece to the story of who we are as a community and how far we’ve come.

What makes this project truly meaningful is the way it brings us all together—showcasing the impact of each group, no matter how big or small, and reminding us that every part of Lexington contributes to the whole. It’s a celebration of diversity, unity, resilience, and pride in our shared history and future.

Lexington, the home of the first shot in the American Revolution, has always been a place where change begins – Let It Begin Here. As we honor our history, we also honor our commitment to continue the revolution—one of progress, inclusion, and love for our town. Our diversity, our passion, and our dedication to one another mean that the revolution continues every day.

Behind the scenes of the #CountdownCalendar, a dedicated team has worked tirelessly to bring this project to life. Doug ensures the physical calendar remains in top condition, while Jane coordinates and supports the energetic student groups, fostering their participation. Jonas manages the town department sign-ups, ensuring each part of Lexington is represented. Cerise has been pivotal in keeping everything on track, updating the calendar numbers on time, coordinating large community groups, and supporting countless organizations in executing their contributions. Jerry leverages his unique connection with the business community to bring local businesses into the fold, and Donna brings her deep understanding of town groups and dynamics, ensuring that local organizations are represented. Mark, with his deep knowledge of Lexington’s legacy groups, connects with organizations that have shaped the town’s history. Lastly, Mona has brought it all together through each post, telling the stories that honor every part of Lexington. Each member of this team has contributed their expertise and dedication, ensuring that every corner of Lexington is honored as we count down to this historic moment.

The countless hours of work behind the scenes—often invisible but invaluable—have made it possible for us to share this celebration of Lexington’s vibrant community. This calendar isn’t just a countdown—it’s a love letter to Lexington, a celebration of what makes this place so special — its people, and a look forward to the continued growth and collaboration that will define our future. Thanks to all who participated whether in front of the calendar or by reading the posts.
