Lex250 would like to thank our amazing community for their support of the Lex250 celebrations by highlighting a few of our volunteers. We appreciate everyone for their work in making sure our events are a success.
Today, we’re highlighting our volunteer Leeying Wu!
What inspired you to get involved in Lex250, and what does this milestone mean to you personally?
I have lived in Lexington for over 23 years, and my two kids grew up here, receiving an excellent education and becoming part of this strong and supportive community. Being part of Lex250 is a meaningful way for me to give back to a town that has given us so much.
Lexington’s history is filled with stories of courage, community, and change. Is there a particular aspect of that history that resonates with you and why?
The courage of ordinary townspeople standing up against a powerful empire resonates deeply with me, which inspires me to contribute to my community and uphold those values of courage and solidarity.
What has been the most meaningful or memorable moment for you while working on Lex250 events?
It’s 2025 Lunar New Year Celebration Gala in Lexington. After more than four decades establishing the LNY Gala as a town-wide tradition, this year marks the first time the LNY Gala’s theme is dedicated to bridging the East and West—embracing a shared hope for a bright and prosperous future.
How do you hope Lexington’s 250th anniversary commemoration will inspire future generations?
I hope that future generations will feel proud of their roots and be inspired to carry forward the spirit of courage and unity that Lexington stands for. Understanding the town’s history of resilience and strength can motivate them to contribute positively to their own communities.
What spot in Lexington would you suggest visitors check out?
