10 Days to Go: Celebrating Democracy and Civic Engagement

Today, we honor the 2025 Town Meeting Members of Lexington. While Lexington’s tradition of Open Town Meeting began nearly 300 years ago, today we have a Representative Town Meeting, where a smaller, elected group of citizens represents the broader community in shaping our town’s policies and decisions.

Since the shift to Representative Town Meeting in 1938, Lexington has upheld its commitment to democratic principles by ensuring that every voice in our community is represented in decisions affecting our town. This system continues to allow residents to participate in the democratic process, maintaining the spirit of direct involvement and community-driven decision-making.

As part of the Lex250 celebrations, we recognize the importance of this democratic tradition and the individuals who serve as Town Meeting Members. Their dedication to civic responsibility ensures that Lexington remains a place where democracy thrives and the voices of our residents are heard.

Thank you to the 2025 Town Meeting Members and all those who have served before them. Your commitment to Lexington’s future is a vital part of our town’s rich legacy.
