Freedom in All Its Forms- A Lex250 Band Concert by MetWinds
July 10 @ 7:30 pm

Join the MetWinds, Guest Conductor Meghan MacFadden, and the Town of Lexington as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Battles of Lexington and Concord. The music will reflect on America’s continuing quest for freedom from the first shots of the Revolutionary War to today. Guest Narrator Frank Oglesby Jr. (the “Voice of the MBTA”) will recite the stirring text of Aaron Copland’s classic Lincoln Portrait. Other favorites include Charles Ives’ mischievous Variations On America, Kimberly Archer’s delightful medley American Labor Songs, and Gala Flagello’s swaggering fanfare Bravado. This concert is sponsored in part by grants from the Lexington Council for the Arts and the Massachusetts Cultural Council. The intended audience is anyone who enjoys performances of live concert band music, history buffs celebrating the 250 anniversary of the Battles of Lexington and Concord, or anyone interested in hearing how our various freedoms have been celebrated through music.
The rain date for this concert is Thursday, July 17, 2025 at the same time and location.
