Voices on the Green: “Risking It”

Voices on the Green -Lexington’s premier live storytelling and music series- presents the third of four shows in collaboration with Lex 250 celebrations.

“Risking It” Six storytellers, speaking from their own perspective or embodying that of a historical figure, will share experiences from their lives that pushed them to take a risk. A teacher in a new job must decide whether to join his colleagues on the picket line. A woman finds the courage to join her husband and daughter rappelling from high cliffs, despite her fear of heights. We’ll experience the story of a Colonial woman who defied her Tory parents by marrying an officer of the Continental Army. Confronted by a Neo-Nazi, a man of mixed racial heritage risks physical harm if he voices his viewpoint. We’ll also learn how a kindergartner risked punishment to challenge an unfair rule, and feel the challenge of a computer programmer who abandoned financial security to pursue his artistic and creative muse.
