LexSeeHer invites everyone to take part in International Women’s Day 2026 on Sunday March 8, 2026. We’ll have three parts to our “Meet & March, Mend & Make” event. Please join as many as you like!
Meet at the Monument & March to the Arch
We will meet at the Lexington Women’s Liberty Monument and stage a tableau (large group photo) with LexSeeHer Women’s Visibility Banners to celebrate women and girls with the “Something Must Be Done!” spirit. We’re inviting all of our Honorees and Living Legends to join, and will partner with interested community organizations including Lexington Girl Scouts. You are invited to come and bring a banner or sign, and to wear clothing that reflects women and girls from any time period.
Mend & Make
A special program will follow (indoors!) to focus on the International 2026 theme “Give to Gain” which emphasizes the many ways we can give in order to gain gender equality. Among the ways we can take action: advocacy, education, training, visibility, mentoring and more. These steps contribute to women’s advancement and help create a more supportive and interconnected world.
The 2026 theme is a perfect opportunity to tell people across the state and country about the bold women of Lexington and the many ways they carried forward the “Something Must Be Done!” call to action issued by Abigail Harrington on April 19, 1775. All of the honorees gave generously of their time and energy, and we have all gained a community that they improved.
The 2026 IWD theme also dovetails beautifully with the town’s 250th Arch and the VO250 initiative to celebrate volunteerism in Lexington.
