LEXINGTON — The Town of Lexington and the Lex250 Commission are thrilled to invite residents to an evening of unforgettable music, history, humor and hometown pride hosted by Saturday Night Live (SNL) alum and Lexington’s own Rachel Dratch!
This year, the Lex250 Commission will also unveil an ambitious new initiative that challenges residents to unite through volunteerism, as America celebrates 250 years of uniting for liberty.
The Patriots’ Day Awards Ceremony has long been a cornerstone of Lexington’s commemoration events. It celebrates individuals whose dedication to community service mirrors the courage and commitment of those who stood on the Green in 1775.
The ceremony is traditionally held on the Battle Green on the morning of Patriots’ Day but has been moved to the evening of Thursday, April 17, this year, due to the additional preparation for commemorations surrounding the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Lexington.
The ceremony honors recipients of the Pat Flynn Outstanding Youth Award, Minuteman Cane Award, and White Tricorne Hat Award, and this year’s ceremony also includes the Lexington Minute Men Scholarship.
WHEN:
Thursday, April 17, from 7-8:30 p.m.
The festivities will begin outdoors at 5:30 p.m. with a preshow, weather permitting. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., when the Lexington High School Jazz Ensemble will perform. The Awards Ceremony runs from 7-8:30 p.m.
WHERE:
Battin Hall, Cary Memorial Building, 1605 Massachusetts Ave., Lexington
WHAT:
For 250 years, Lexington has been a town of action, where people from all walks of life have come together for the greater good. Now, it’s time for today’s residents to carry that legacy forward.
This year’s Patriots’ Day Awards Ceremony will be different. Instead of the usual outdoor ceremony, the celebration will be indoors, under the lights, and with a little extra star power.
The celebration will be hosted by SNL alum and Lexington’s own Rachel Dratch.
During the ceremony, this year’s recipients of the Pat Flynn Outstanding Youth Award, Minuteman Cane Award, White Tricorne Hat Award, and Lexington Minute Men Scholarship will be honored.
The Lex250 Commission will also celebrate past awardees and unveil VO250 (VO for Volunteer), a yearlong celebration of civic engagement.
Mark your calendars, gather your friends, and get ready for an unforgettable night. Lexington, are you ready to answer the call?
