The official Lex250 Celebrations for the 250th Anniversary of the Battle of Lexington were launched on Friday, April 19 at a ceremony in front of Cary Hall in Lexington.
Massachusetts Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll kicked-off the festivities alongside Lex250 Commission Chair Suzie Barry, State Senator Mike Barrett, Massachusetts National Guard Lt. Colonel Geoffrey Love, and Boston British and French Consuls General to the United States Dr. Peter Abbott OBE and Mustafa Soykurt, respectively.
The ceremony involved the participation of the Lexington Minute Men, performances by the William Diamond Junior Fife & Drum Corps and the unveiling of the Lex250 Countdown Calendar.
Following the launch, several community members spoke about different aspects of colonial life during the British Tea and Colonial Talks seminars. The day’s celebrations were concluded by the Countdown-to-250 Concert, which featured “Wind Music from the British Empire,” by The Lexington Bicentennial Band.
