125 Days to Go

Sunday’s #CalendarKeepers for the #CountdownTo250 were some of the dedicated members of the Lexington Swadhyay Kendra! 🌿 For years, this group has been meeting each Sunday at Minuteman High School in Lexington, coming together as a spiritual family called Swadhyay Parivar.

The Swadhyaya initiative, inspired by the teachings of Pandurangshastri Athavale (Dadaji), is a grassroots movement rooted in Vedic philosophy and the Bhagavad Gita. Central to its philosophy is the belief in the “indwelling presence of God in all human beings,” fostering respect for self and others, universal brotherhood, and a life beyond religious and social boundaries. Swadhyaya emphasizes self-study and personal transformation to uplift individuals spiritually and socially.

Devotion, a foundation of Swadhyaya, is understood as expression of gratefulness to God extending to family, society and the universe. Followers engage in weekly gatherings, Bhav Pheris (devotional visits), and community projects in social, agricultural, environmental and many other fields. These activities promote selfless work, cooperation, and mutual respect, creating a sense of extended family fostering social harmony and positive impact on human society around the world. Dadaji, a Templeton Prize laureate, left a profound legacy continued globally by Dhanashree Talwalkar (Didiji). Today, Swadhyaya thrives in 36 U.S. states and 24 countries, uniting people across cultures in shared purpose and ethical living.

Let’s celebrate their ongoing commitment to enriching our community and keeping our cultural roots alive as we reflect on 250 years of Lexington’s history. #Lex250 #CountdownTo250 #Swadhyay #CulturalHeritage #DiversityInLexington #Community #Hindu
