🌟 Today’s #CalendarKeepers for the #CountdownTo250 shines a spotlight on the Lexington Lyceum, a cornerstone of our town’s intellectual and cultural life, dedicated to fostering lifelong learning and curiosity. Their mission includes the establishment of a modern lyceum, history interpretation center, and community gathering space at the historic Ellen Stone Building. This restored venue will serve as a place to reflect on the past and shape the future, ensuring that learning and engagement continue to thrive in Lexington for generations to come.
🎂 Today, we also celebrate the 170th birthday of Ellen Stone! To mark the occasion, the Lexington Lyceum Advocates hosted a special birthday celebration at Cary Hall, complete with a cake. This event honored the historical significance of Ellen Stone and her lasting legacy. In an interesting confluence, volunteers downstairs in the Ellen Stone room were packaging November ballots, reminding us that the preservation of democracy for future generations is a collective responsibility.
Looking ahead, join them on Thursday, October 17, at 7 PM for an important event: “Reconstruction and the ‘Moral Sense of the Nation.” This talk, co-sponsored by the Lexington Lyceum Advocates and the Association of Black Citizens of Lexington (ABCL), will explore the profound significance of the Reconstruction era and its impact on understanding America’s past and present. The event will be held at the Follen Church Sanctuary, 755 Massachusetts Ave, with a reception following Dr. Bellinger’s insightful presentation.
Join us in celebrating the contributions of the Lexington Lyceum as we continue the journey toward a vibrant future! đź“š #Lex250 #CountdownTo250 #CalendarKeepers #LifelongLearning #IntellectualCuriosity #EllenStoneBuilding #CommunityEducation #Reconstruction
