70 Days To Go

🕯️ 70 Days to Go – Honoring the Team Behind the Lexington Lantern Festival!

Today’s #CalendarKeepers for the #CountdownTo250 are the organizers of the 3rd Annual Lexington Lantern Festival! This vibrant celebration will take place on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at First Parish in Lexington (7 Harrington Road) and marks the end of the two-week Lunar New Year celebration, symbolizing unity, light, and hope.

For centuries, lanterns have served as beacons of remembrance and resilience. From the Revolutionary War era, when lanterns signaled messages of resistance and change, to Lunar New Year traditions where they represent illumination, guidance, and new beginnings, these glowing symbols have long connected cultures through the power of light.

The festivities begin at 3:00 PM with pre-show lantern-making and refreshments, followed by performances and interactive activities at 4:00 PM. The evening will culminate in a magical outdoor lantern parade at 5:30 PM, bringing the community together under a canopy of glowing lights. Free DIY Lantern-Making Kits will be available from 3:00–4:00 PM.

Co-hosted by: NLCC, CAAL, First Parish in Lexington, Lexington Historical Society, Lex250 Commission, Lexington Human Rights Committee, Cary Memorial Library, and Munroe Center for the Arts, with support from the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

As Lexington approaches 250 years, this festival reminds us that light has always guided our history—whether through the lanterns of Paul Revere’s ride or the traditions that unite us across generations and cultures.

Join us as we light up the night together!
