Lex250 celebrated #AAPIHeritageMonth with multiple events this past weekend, including opening CALex’s “My American Story” program, which played to a full house on Saturday, May 18! 🌟
Representing different walks of life and stages in life, five Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) individuals shared their authentic American stories. Speakers included Professor Charles Inouye, author Weina Dai, health policy researcher Dr. Ye Zhang Pogue, and Lexington High School students Leela Jia-Ling Basu and Diya Nigam. Opening remarks were given by Lex250 Vice Chair Mona Roy.
Lexington invited AAPI panelists from Lexington and the surrounding communities to share their personal stories to show the diversity and commonality within the AAPI community and what it means to be Americans of AAPI heritage.
During the second half, the speakers engaged with the audience, answering questions about navigating life as AAPI in Lexington and beyond, resulting in a rich, multilayered, and multigenerational discussion. Thank you to everyone who made this event a success and for sharing your stories with the community! 🙏 #AAPI #AuthenticSelf #American #Lexington
