Lexington Police Remind Residents and Visitors of Parking/Traffic Restrictions for Friday’s Lex250 Celebrations Launch Event

In observation of this week’s Launch Event for Lex250 Celebrations, the Lexington Police Department will enact parking and traffic restrictions in the area of Cary Memorial Hall.

Parking/traffic restrictions to be put in place on Friday, April 19 are as follows:

Cary Memorial Hall Driveway
Lexington Police will block the horseshoe driveway of Cary Memorial Hall, 1605 Massachusetts Ave., at midnight Friday. This closure will affect the drive-up drop boxes for the U.S. Postal Service and the Town Clerk/Treasurer. Community members may access the drop boxes by parking in the area and walking. The driveway will reopen at approximately 2 p.m.

Metered Parking Spots
Seven metered parking spots on Massachusetts Avenue in front of Cary Memorial Hall, as well as up to five additional spots directly across the street, will be bagged and coned off for event-specific parking. The metered parking spots will reopen at approximately 2 p.m.

Alternative handicapped parking options for anyone needing to visit the Town Office Building area are in front of the Post Office at 1661 Massachusetts Ave. or in the staff parking lot behind the Town Office Building. Additionally, any metered spot in Lexington Center is free as long as a handicap placard is displayed.

MBTA Bus Lane and Bus Stop
The MBTA bus lane and bus stop in front of Cary Memorial Hall will be blocked off from 7 a.m. to approximately 2 p.m. MBTA buses will not stop at the bus stop nearest Cary Memorial Hall/Lexington Town Office Building during that timeframe. The next stop for the outbound 62, 62/76, and 76 buses is located in front of Emery Park at the corner of Massachusetts Avenue and Depot Square. A stop is also located at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Woburn Street. Additional stop and schedule information for these bus lines can be found on mbta.com.

There are no street closures as a result of this event. Two-way traffic will still flow as usual on Massachusetts Avenue in the Cary Memorial Hall area. However, drivers are encouraged to travel with caution through the area on Friday.

The Lexington Police Department appreciates the public’s cooperation with these temporary restrictions.
