SIX MONTHS TO GO —WEEKEND OF LIGHT

This weekend, Lexington marks six months to go until the 250th anniversary of the First Shot of the American Revolution, a historic event that unfolded right here on our Green. As part of this milestone, we’re kicking off the Weekend of Light, where our community will come together to celebrate unity, history, and diversity.

The weekend begins on Saturday with a sold-out IAL Diwali celebration, spreading the light of the Festival of Lights throughout Lexington. On Sunday, the sky will come alive with an epic drone show featuring over 400 drones lighting up the night in a stunning display of creativity and technology. The drone show will take place at 7:00 pm above the Lexington High School Athletic Fields (251 Waltham St). Be sure to arrive by 6:30 pm to enjoy a preshow filled with amazing performances, including the Lexington High School Parade Band, William Diamond Junior Fife & Drum Corps, CAAL’s Enlightened Dragon, and the Lexington Minute Men. Following the drone show, a procession will lead to the Green, where attendees of all abilities, ages, and identities are invited to participate in the Light Up the Green event. At 8:00 pm, we’ll gather on the Green and join in lighting up Lexington, with music from the Middlesex County Volunteers Fifes & Drums, creating a historic moment captured by a drone.

As today’s #CalendarKeepers, we are excited to have the Core Planning Team of the Lex250 Drone Show, CAAL’s Enlightened Dragon Team, and some of the Indian Parents who celebrated Diwali early by bringing light to their schools with festive #Desi breakfasts and take-home diyas for staff.

Join us in celebrating this unforgettable Weekend of Light as we continue our #CountdownTo250 and prepare for Lexington’s Semiquincentennial. Let’s make history together, Lexington!
