42 Days to Go – Celebrating International Women’s Day!
As we continue the #CountdownTo250, we honor International Women’s Day (March 8, 2025) alongside #LexSeeHer, Girl Scouts, and local community leaders! This year’s global theme, #InspireInclusion, reminds us that progress is made when we celebrate diversity, uplift voices, and ensure that every woman and girl feels valued and empowered.
From the earliest days of Lexington’s history, women have played a pivotal role in shaping our town and nation. In 1775, while men marched to the Battle of Lexington, women held their homes, families, and communities together—many actively contributing to the Revolutionary cause. Their resilience and determination were the foundation of the freedoms we cherish today.
Through the centuries, Lexington women have continued to break barriers and lead change. Educators, lawyers, scientists, activists, public servants, entrepreneurs, and artists have left lasting legacies—many of whom #LexSeeHer has worked to recognize, ensuring their contributions are visible and celebrated.
Today, women and girls in Lexington carry that legacy forward, making an impact in government, education, STEM, the arts, and advocacy. The Girl Scouts, for generations, have empowered young women with leadership skills, civic engagement, and a deep sense of service, while community leaders and organizations continue to champion inclusion and equality.
As we commemorate #Lex250, we celebrate the women who have led, served, and shaped our town’s history—and those who are building its future. Let’s honor their stories, amplify their voices, and commit to an inclusive, equitable Lexington where every woman and girl has the opportunity to thrive.
