Event: Memorial Day in Lexington

On Monday, May 27, the Town of Lexington will honor those who have fallen serving our nation.

At 10:00 a.m., the public is invited to join the Wreath Walk at Munroe Cemetery driveway. Walk with the Lexington Minute Men, Lexington High School Band, Scouts, Veterans and honored guests to lay wreaths at several important Lexington War Memorials.

At 11:00 am, there will be a special Musical Tribute to our Armed Forces in Emery Park, Depot Square, sponsored by the Town Celebrations Committee. Attendees will travel back to World War I, World War II and Vietnam, with narration by Ashley Rooney and popular songs of those times performed by Lexington High School students, Jeff Leonard, retired Music Director of the Lexington Public Schools, Jason Iannuzzi, LHS Choral Director and other professionals.

Since World War I, the poppy has come to be known as a symbol of remembrance. Back by popular demand, the Never-Fading Poppy Project (NFPP), a student-led youth team of CAAL, the Chinese American Association of Lexington, will once again install their Poppy Memorial at Emery Park. This beautiful poppy wreath will remain on view at the park for several days after the ceremony.
