What inspired you to get involved in Lex250, and what does this milestone mean to you personally?
Volunteerism is a big part of my life and it is only natural for me to get myself involved in this milestone event.
Lexington’s history is filled with stories of courage, community, and change. Is there a particular aspect of that history that resonates with you, and why?
As a co-founder of Indian Americans of Lexington (IAL), I have had and continue to have the wonderful opportunity of working with some amazing people from other community organizations with the aligned goal of enhancing the resources available in town while celebrating its rich diversity. The Cary Library holds a special place in my heart, and I find the collaborative events organized by IAL’s Library Committee (of which I am a part of ) and the Cary Foundation a very enriching and valuable experience. The Lexington community as a whole, with its diverse population, is welcoming and inclusive for the immigrant diaspora for which I am appreciative of.

Representing IAL, I have had the opportunity to involve myself in a few Lex250 events. Notable amongst them was the Countdown Calendar event outside the Town Office building. The enthusiasm and the pride of Lexingtonians was palpable and the whole place was alive with excitement making the event unforgettable. I am grateful to have been a part of it and experienced the energy.
How do you hope Lexington’s 250th anniversary will inspire future generations?
The rich history of Lexington stands as a timeless inspiration for future generations. Its stories of courage remind us that ordinary people can shape extraordinary events. I hope that its lessons inspire the spirit of strength, democracy, and freedom in future generations for years to come.
